Disco, soft rock and Malay pop meet on this 1979 Philips release by Penang band Alleycats. Highlights include “Kasih Mu,” a Malay-language adaptation of Donna Summer’s “Hot Stuff,” and “Selamat Berbahagia,” their version of Little River Band’s “Happy Anniversary.” Dance-oriented material sits alongside melodic pop, while M. Nasir’s “Joget Tersalah Pikat” brings a local Malay dance tradition into the repertoire. Ooi Eow Jin is among the contributors to the string and brass arrangements. A rewarding pick for collectors exploring Southeast Asian bands with a taste for both disco sparkle and accessible pop melodies.
